Merci Umberto, Michele e Emanuele !
On the way to Genova, we stopped in Monaco. It seemed far to the centre with our bags so we hitched another lift, and got picked up by a tour guide on his day off. Instead of just dropping us off
he gave us the grand tour by car, which was cool and saved us lots of precious time! Then in Genova we arrived during the gay pride parade, something I had never experienced before but I don't
think it'll be my last. We had no place planned to sleep in Genova, until Julia talked to a group of young lads; and one of them had a "free house"..and since they seemed harmless we agreed. Our
host Umberto and his two friends sang us lots of songs including an Italian one about Ireland. Ottimo!!

Yesterday, our goals were
surpassed by the generosity of France's drivers. We got all the way to Nice, 620 miles! Okay, they weren't just French, there was a Flemish-Belgian and an Italian, both of whom had incredibly long
jouneys themselves. I may have found a job in Lyon thanks to my new Belgian friend! In Nice we went straight to a barbecue in Chups' house..a luxury house with a built in swimming pool, and
although it was already night time, it was warm and so refreshing! The next day we did some sightseeing in Nice. Julia showed me all the hotspots where she used to hang out when she lived there. We
met up with an old friend of hers, and when I went inside the bar to give them some space to catch up, the barstaff filled me in on some local gossip which made the day all the more interesting
(you'll have to ask directly for this sorry). That night we were smuggled into a private beach party down the coast, since it was well sold out. Open bar and too much food to go around, not to
mention that it was a med student party and the population of Nice seem to be somewhat better looking than that elsewhere ;P I met some lovely people and had a blast in Nice all thanks to
Julia!
----------------------
